About the game

Story

After the events of on the Island of Time, the Prince returns to the city of Babylon with his lover, Kaileena. However, instead of a peaceful kingdom, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the people turned against him.

Though he attempts to fight against the unknown enemy, he is soon captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him. Now an outcast on the streets of his home and hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.

Design

The style of Kindred Blades was much darker than T2T,with more realistic art style and was seen in the prince as well, resembling more like he did in Warrior Within, with his armor, ragged hair, scars, scruffy beard and tatoos, also the medallion of time was embedded in his armor.

Development

The initial trailer was first unveiled at E3 2005, it maintained the same "dark" tone that began with 2004's Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Players would be able to switch between the two Prince characters, "Light Prince" and Dark Prince, at will in order to illustrate the different combat techniques employed for both characters. It's speculated that the characters' actions would determine what end the players would receive at the end. The game would have been roughly seventeen hours long or longer in accordance with Warrior Within's gameplay length.

Gameplay would have included the ability to traverse the whole of Babylon's streets, backtrack use the rooftops to for safer routes from enemies in an open environment. Though the Prince would be able to use the Dagger of Time, he would not be able to travel back in time, but merely use its ability to manipulate the present by slowing time[4]. The narrative of Kindred Blades presumably would've abandoned the storyline concerning the fate of Farah, but would "tie up loose ends" concerning the previous two games.

Gameplay & Features

Kindred Blades featured mutilation, new moves, more brutal kills with both dark prince and "regular"prince, automatic speed-kills(which requires performing a QTE in Two Thrones) and the presence of the medallion of time from Warrior Within. In Kindred Blades travelling was supposed to work akin to Warrior Within, where the player could navigate in a semi-open world Babylon.using streets or the rooftops and travelling back and forth as they pleased, unlike the Two Thrones.
